Here are a couple of assignments that I really enjoyed:

In print

Interviewing Michael Parkinson was both a pleasure and a challenge because, of course, he’s known for being in the interviewer’s seat. I spoke to him for a feature and competition in one of Arcadia’s employee magazines. Celebrity names attract reader attention but the real trick is finding a reason for them being in your company magazine. Here, Parky had just taken up a role as Dignity Ambassador for the Elderly and the magazine was targeting retired staff: perfect. Download pdf

On the web

I can’t possibly be a specialist in every area of business I write about. I think it’s a plus to go into a project with an open mind and no preconceived ideas. I’ll leave this to Tanya Shoop to explain –

"Giving over the content of your website to an external person who does not know the intricacies of your business is a daunting step to take. Julie made that step easy.  In fact, not knowing about my work (the Alexander Technique) proved to be a bonus as she could look at it with an outsider's eye and question things that I found difficult to explain or that I took for granted. She asked lots of useful questions and was able to get to the heart of the matter. Julie has a gift for writing in a simple, readable and accessible way and I am sure that we will work together in the future."
